BUILDING BRANDS THAT MEAN SOMETHING.

Founder of Make Good Great. Brand and marketing strategist based on the Central Coast.

I'm Cameron Abbott, founder of Make Good Great. My background isn't a straight line - it runs through hospitality operations, wine and tourism marketing, and international FMCG brand management. That breadth is what makes the work here different. I understand how the businesses I work with actually operate, not just how they present themselves.

I spent several years in senior food and beverage roles across the Hunter Valley, at Crowne Plaza and a luxury retreat under the Minor Hotels Group. Managing front-of-house teams, venue operations, and the service standards that make or break a guest's experience. Those years taught me something a marketing career rarely does: how big the gap between brand promise and operational reality can be, and what it actually takes to close it.

From there I moved into marketing at Margan Wines and Restaurant, an award-winning Hunter Valley winery and restaurant with a strong tourism and direct-to-consumer offer. I ran the full marketing function: brand, campaigns, digital, email, content, media, events, and a complete website and CRM rebuild. The property took out Gold at the NSW Tourism Awards and went on to represent NSW at the Australian Tourism Awards. When you're the whole marketing team, you get good at knowing what actually matters fast.

HOW I WORK

Day-to-day I work in international brand management across APAC and the Gulf, running consumer promotions, shopper and trade execution, and distributor marketing across markets that couldn't be more different from each other. I get into market regularly - spending time across Southeast Asia, the Pacific and the Middle East seeing firsthand what's landing with consumers, what's being ignored, and what local competition is actually doing. That ground-level exposure shapes how I think about brand positioning in a way that spreadsheets and agency decks don't.

MGG is how I apply that thinking to founder-led businesses. Businesses that want strategic clarity and proper execution without the overhead of a full-service agency. You get direct access to someone who has managed the full brief, from brand strategy through to in-market activation, and who understands the industries you operate in from the inside.

WHAT I BELIEVE

Most businesses I talk to don't have a marketing problem. They have a clarity problem. About what they stand for, who they're actually for, and what makes them genuinely different. Get that right and the marketing becomes a lot more straightforward. That's the work I care about most, and it's what underpins everything MGG does.

Established business owners in hospitality, wine, food and beverage, tourism, and professional services. Businesses that have something real to say and want marketing that reflects that — not noise for noise's sake. If you're ready to invest seriously in getting your brand and marketing right, let's talk.
